Finding quality e-zines to review can be difficult. Some of the suggestions we receive come very close to meeting our criteria but fall short in one area or another. The most common mistake is not checking for spelling or grammatical errors. Obvious mistakes on the front page will usually stop me from doing a review. Why? Because most e-zines are 'for the love of the market' sites. Meaning that while they don't offer monetary payment, they can help promote your work and build your name recognition. If a site is less than professional in appearance most readers aren't going to stick around long enough to learn your name.

The Pink Chameleon is a charming e-zine for those looking for something a little different. It features stories and poetry aimed at a Christian audience. The site is visually attractive and quick to load. It features a searchable dictionary, thesaurus, and links to a variety of sites.

While the Pink Chameleon doesn't ask for exclusive or first e-print rights but they do ask to keep the work up for a full year. Now this sounds a bit excessive at first but if you submit to a magazine that archives indefinitely, your work could be on the site for far more than a year, so it's a matter of perception. They will pull a submission at the author's request at any time.

The site has a lot to offer and has a great deal of potential but navigation could be better. The index is more than half way down the front page and it's necessary to scroll down through a lot of other items to find it. Once you click on a topic, another page opens and the index is in a scroll menu on the left. Easier to find but I would like to see a HOME link in each menu and not just at the bottom of the page.

Many of the pages feature very soft and attractive background images. While most of the articles and stories are in clear fonts that are easy to read there are a few that could use a bold font to make the print stand out from the background.

I recommend The Pink Chameleon for our readers looking for something outside the typical science fiction, fantasy and horror zines on the web.
