In this issue I am taking a look at a zine that is sure to be one of
those that sticks around and makes a name for itself. Mythlog is a great
place for those hard to place stories. They are not a paying site yet
but look to be in the near future.
Navigation of this site is very simple. On the home page you click on
the blurb for the story that catches your eye. I like the idea of having
blurbs for the material so you can go right to what interests you most.
The background colors are well suited for on-screen reading. There are
no moving graphics or sounds to slow your download time. There are also
no pop ups. At this time there are no broken links to be found.
The writing is very good and interesting. I even liked the poetry and
I’m not a poetry reader. Authors who have illustrations that go with
their work are encouraged to send it in. The editor reserves the right
to edit any writing submitted. This is for minor things and major things
are worked out between the editor and author.
Mythlog does not accept simultaneous submissions. First world electronic
rights are taken and you may not reprint for six months. Confirmation of
receipt for submissions is about a week. The waiting time for acceptance
is 60 days. If your work should be returned it may be for important
revisions so that Mythlog can showcase your very best work. For those of
you in the process of honing your craft this could be a good learning
experience.
All in all this is a very professional site. I highly recommend it to
anyone who has that odd story that just doesn’t fit anywhere. The next
issue deadline is June 1st. Also there are openings for staff positions
for promotions, fund raising and a fiction editor.
I give this site a rating of * * * * * Mythlog can be viewed at
