Carriage House Review is a literary magazine devoted to dark fiction. Our aim is to present previously unpublished writings that convey a "dark" feel without necessarily being genre-oriented. We are seeking intelligent, disquieting, well-written work in the spirit of such authors as Joyce Carol Oates and Henry James.

Lullaby Hearse
Lullaby Hearse is seeking poetry, art and fiction with a focus on vivid imagery and clear prose. Writing should be within the realm of the experimental and there are no taboos--sexually or violently graphic material is welcome when done in interesting ways. Work can vary from stark realism to nightmare landscapes, but contributers are encouraged not to be dull or fantastical.
Maximum payment for fiction is $10-15 and $5 for reviews. Poetry pays a fixed rate of $5/poem, or $5 for the first and $3 for each additional poem if a contributer is asked to be featured. Alternative art and photography is welcome and pays $5-10 per piece. All contributers will receive one copy.

Flash fiction (under 500 words) of most genres, other than children's, syrupy romance or hard science fiction, are accepted - and we love humor.
Stories up to 100 words (excluding the title) - 10 cents a word.
Stories between 101 and 200 words - 5 cents a word.
Stories between 201 and 500 words - 3 cents a word.
Stories of great merit receive up to $25 flat fee; 3 cents a word is a minimum pay in any case.
